located is Solo (also known on some maps as Surakarta) in Central Java. This
beautiful old city is the birthplace of Javanese culture, as well as being an
important manufacturing center for furniture and textiles. It is readily
accessible from Jakarta, Bali or Singapore. We have two Kraton (Royal Palaces),
a wonderful antiques market (Pasar Triwindu), the best batik market in Indonesia
(Pasar Klewer), nearby mountain resorts and waterfalls, a close proximity to
ancient temples of Prambanan (Hindu) and Borobudur (Buddhist). Contrary to the
scare mongering and sensationalizing press reports, most of Indonesia is very
safe, very beautiful and the biggest bargain for your dollar at the moment. 4 or
5 star hotels start at about US$25-$30 per night in Solo. Want luxury 3 room
suite in a 5 star hotel? Maybe as high as US$50 per night, and one of the best
swimming pools in the world!
STAFF Our friendly staff are fluent in English and Indonesian, and try to respond quickly to all correspondences, especially the nice ones. Ms. Lia, originally from the teak forests of Blora, is in charge of customer service, fixing our computer, and buying the office chocolate biscuits. Ms. Murti is a native of Solo, and very efficiently handles the stock and production. She has the record for putting the most dents in the company car. Mr. Michael escaped the cruelly cold winters of his native Adelaide, Australia to find a hot climate with cold beers. He's title is Quality Control, and he valiantly tries to fullfill his duties. In his opinion he is underpaid and overworked.
